Saw my video on the big screen outside @focalpointgallery Southend as part of the Relay 2022 project. Quite strange to see my paintings that size, my son was so embarrassed he hid round the corner.
It will be on view for one more week.
Focal Point Gallery: ‘We’re delighted to be launch a new addition of ‘Relay’, an initiative we instigated during lockdown in 2021 to support local artists. Every two weeks, we will be platforming the work of three Southend-based creatives until 11 July. Each artist will be invited to share work, research or work in progress in the form of a one-minute video. Based on the structure of an intermission or public service announcement, these works will be shared on Big Screen Southend, as well as on our website and Instagram feed.
As a paid opportunity, each participating artist will in turn be asked to nominate another Southend-based practitioner to feature in the programme, concluding after three rounds, with a total of 9 Southend artists from a range of disciplines platformed across Focal Point Gallery’s digital platforms. For round 1, we’re pleased to present works by multidisciplinary artist Mary Lodge, storyteller Hannah Brailsford and visual artist Victoria Sills.
